Nikola Valaine (b. 2001) is a Latvian violinist whose musical journey began at the Pāvuls Jurjāns Music School, where she studied with Ilze Kaspare and Osvalds Šneiders. She continued her musical education at the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music Secondary School under the guidance of Osvalds Šneiders and Velga Polinska. Nikola earned her bachelor’s degree from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where she studied under Professor Gunārs Larsens. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the same institution in the violin class of Marta Spārniņa, continuing to develop her artistic voice and professional musicianship.

Orchestral playing holds a special place in Nikola’s musical life. She has performed with several distinguished orchestras, including the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Rīga, Latvian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Concertante, and the Jūrmala Festival Orchestra.

In addition, she has gained valuable international experience through youth symphony orchestra projects abroad. Since 2025, Nikola has been a tutti violinist of the Davinspiro Camerata chamber orchestra.

As part of her artistic development, Nikola has taken part in masterclasses both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, working with distinguished artists and professors such as Philip A. Draganov, Vineta Sareika, Tamar Bulia, and Evgeny Sinaiski, as well as members of the Cuareim Quartet, among many others.

Chamber music also plays an important role in Nikola’s musical life. She has performed in various chamber ensembles, developing a broad repertoire and gaining valuable experience in musical collaboration. For Nikola, chamber music is a special form of dialogue that allows for a deep connection between musicians and the music itself.
