The new concertmaster of the LNSO, violinist Daniils Bulajevs, and one of Latvia’s most important conductors Normunds Šnē meet on stage. The program they lead takes you through three different, yet emotionally closely connected musical worlds. Schumann’s opus “Overture, Scherzo and Finale” was written during the happy period of the composer’s life after his marriage to Klara Vīka, yet in the music, along with its solemn brilliance, there is also a mysterious tension and dramatic unrest. In Ghinaster's Violin Concerto, echoes of ancient Argentine folk music intertwine with modern musical language, creating an extremely virtuosic and technically challenging work. Meanwhile, Pēteris Plakids' "Dziedājums" (Song) gradually leads from intense drama and tension to inner peace and reconciliation.
