Katrīna Anna Rando (b.2004) is a Latvian cellist currently based in Berlin, Germany. She is pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music Berlin under the guidance of Professor Stephan Forck, having begun her studies there in 2023. Prior to moving to Germany, she completed her education at the Emīls Dārziņš Special Music School in Riga under the class of Dace Pūce.

As an active orchestral and chamber musician, Katrīna has performed with numerous ensembles across Europe. She has been a member of the Davinspiro Camerata chamber orchestra since 2022 and of Leonardo da Vinci Kammerorchester in Germany since 2024, appearing both as a solo cellist and section player. In 2025, she performed as a substitute cellist with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. Earlier orchestral experiences include participation in Concertgebouw Young in the Netherlands, Young Academy Rostock (YARO) in Germany, and the youth orchestra project Born in Latvia.

Katrīna has received recognition in several national and international competitions. Her recent achievements include Third Prize at the International Cello Competition “Cello Cēsis” (2024) and First Prize at the Latvian National Competition for Professional Orientation and Professional Secondary Music Education Programs (2023). She also earned Third Prize at the Inese Galante Talent Contest (2021), Second Prize at the K. Davidov International Cellist Competition (2016), and First Prize at the International Competition “Rising Star” (2014).

A dedicated and continuously developing artist, Katrīna has participated in masterclasses with distinguished cellists and pedagogues including Denis Shapovalov, Isang Enders, Francis Gouton, Reinhard Latzko, Troels Svane, Wen-Sinn Yang, Claudio Bohorquez, Wolfgang Redik, Vineta Sareika, Jonathan Aner, Johanna Stamler and Gerard Causse.

She has further enriched her musical education through programs such as Balanas Classical Academy, Schloss Academy, Starnberger Musiktage, and the Internationale Musikakademie München.

Since 2022, Katrīna has also appeared as a solo performer at the festival “Inese Galante. Summertime” 

Through her performances, teaching, and ongoing artistic development, she continues to establish herself as an emerging cellist of the new generation.

Currently she plays a Ferdinand Lantner Cello built in Prague 1862.
