Emīls Helde (b. 2001) is a Latvian violinist from Jūrmala whose musical journey began at the age of six in music schools in Jūrmala and Riga under the guidance of teachers Dzidra Pelēķe and Elizabete Beāte Goļikova. He completed a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in the violin class of Professor Eva Bindere and studied at the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Brescia, Italy, through the Erasmus programme. In 2026, he earned a Master’s degree in Symphonic Orchestra Performance from the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg, where he studied as a member of the Swedish National Orchestra Academy under the supervision of Professor Øyvor Volle.
Since 2026, Emīls has performed as a substitute violinist with the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra. He also has joined the Talent Programme 2026/27 at Folkoperan in Stockholm, Sweden. He previously held positions as Second Violin Tutti (2023–24) and First Violin Tutti (2025) with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, Latvia.
As a member of the Swedish National Orchestra Academy, Emīls served as Concertmaster, Principal Second Violin and Violin Tutti in orchestral projects and performances in Gothenburg. In 2026, he appeared as solo violinist in a performance of “Lonely Angel” by Pēteris Vasks with the Academy’s string ensemble.
He has also performed with orchestras including the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo, Chamber Orchestra “I Virtuosi Italiani”, the Latvian Centenary Youth Orchestra, and others. In the Davinspiro Camerata chamber orchestra he has been a tutti violinist since 2022.
Emīls has taken part in masterclasses and orchestral academies in Latvia and abroad with musicians including Pavel Berman, Maxim Brillinsky, Lucas Takeshi Stratmann, Elīna Bukša, Sara Trobäck, and others.
Driven by curiosity and a commitment to artistic growth, he continues to develop his career through professional orchestral engagements, chamber music collaborations, and diverse performance projects.
