Dedze Dagnija Miķelsone (b. 2001) is a Latvian violinist whose musical journey began at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School, where she studied under the guidance of Ludmila Girska and later Inese Štrāle. She continued her professional musical education at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where she earned her Professional Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance in the class of Marta Spārniņa. Alongside her musical studies, Dedze also completed a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Communication at Rīga Stradiņš University, combining her interests in music and communication.

Orchestral and chamber music have always played an important role in her musical life. Since 2022, Dedze has been a member of the string Davinspiro Camerata chamber orchestra, while also performing regularly in various chamber music ensembles. Throughout her studies and professional career, she has performed extensively with orchestras and chamber ensembles in Latvia and across Europe, participating in numerous concerts, festivals, and international projects. She has also taken part in international educational programmes, including the Erasmus+ “Young Artists Rostock Summer School” and the Erasmus+ mobility project “European Mobility for the Professional Development of Young Musicians”, gaining valuable international orchestral and chamber music experience.

Dedze has received recognition at several chamber music competitions, including First Prize at the Riga Brotherhood of Blackheads Chamber Ensemble Competition and Second Prize at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music Chamber Ensemble Competition as a member of the chamber ensemble KAD.

As part of her artistic development, she has participated in masterclasses with distinguished violinists and pedagogues including Vineta Sareika, Jevgeny Sinaiski, Nuno Soares, Meret Lüthi, and other internationally recognised musicians, continuously refining her artistic expression and performance practice.

Alongside her performing career, Dedze is also dedicated to music education. She has worked as a violin teacher at the Riga Bolderāja Music and Art School and the Riga Pārdaugava Music and Art School. Alongside her performing career, Dedze has also contributed to the field of music through writing, including an article published in the Latvian music magazine Mūzikas Saule. She continues to develop as a versatile musician, both individually and within the ensembles she performs with, drawing on her background in music and communication to contribute a distinctive artistic perspective.
